GOING GREEN
FOR THIS PROJECT I HAD TO TAKE A TOPIC AND DESIGN A POSTER FOR IT. THE NAME OF MY POSTER IS GOING GREEN. TO START MY PROJECT I THOUGH OF WHAT GOING GREEN REPRESENTS.
TO START, I CAME UP WITH A CONCEPTS PAGE, OR IN OTHER WORDS, BRAINSTORMING:
This is my rough concept page. I made this page on the spot. I put all of my jumbled thoughts onto one piece of paper. Every idea that came to my mind at the moment was drawn on this page.
This page is my final concept page that I completed and made it look nicer and more viewer friendly. One of my ideas was to take a water bottle and put it on the floor with a shadow on the ground. The bottle would be over sized to really emphasize the need for recycling. It was have also had a phrase beside it that would say something along the lines of "REVOLT" or "IT TAKES ONE TO START A REVOLUTION." Another concept I had was to make the national recycling insignia and have either one of the phrases inside of the sign. For my final concept it popped on my mind again to have a door leading into a forest or a field, or a canal. My idea kinda developed from there, to a green painted room and having the door swing inward, and having a recycling bin on the ground by the door.
THE NEXT ADVANCEMENT THAT I MADE WAS TO START DEVELOPING MY FONTS PAGE.
THE NEXT ADVANCEMENT THAT I MADE WAS TO START DEVELOPING MY FONTS PAGE.
This was probably the best page that I made simply because I put so much time and effort into making it. I spent most of my time just looking for the one font that would look great on my poster. This was encouraged by my teacher because he said that the font is what makes or breaks your project, or makes your project sale. I looked up all kinds of fonts and started choosing between which ones I liked and which ones looked the best with my other features and style.
IMMORTAL
CHALLENGE SHADOW
TICKING TIME BOMB
KAVALER KURSIVE
ARCHIEVE
This is my final font choice, it's called Archieve. I got it from the site "1001freefonts.com." I chose this one because it matched the best in my opinion. It took me forever to find this font. First I went through all the fonts on illustrator. Working my way through all the original downloaded fonts.
I then proceeded to go to a website for fonts.
This website gave me a great variety of choices to choose from and is where I found my final font.
PERSONAL STUDY
My personal study consisted of, myself, going out and looking for inspiration. I took picture, built miniature forests, looked at several artists, and got several real life examples. The leaf is part of my concept of making the recycling sign out of said leafs. The artist Tim Nobel and Sue Webster make a structure out of garbage and with shadows they cast pictures of cities, as you can tell. It isn't much but it was enough for me to figure out my final idea.
Now to go on to my colors concept pages.
The color page is what i used to make my door view. I came up with secondary colors, and tertiary colors. I matched complimentary colors, monochromatic colors. I did a bunch of colors to illustrate my thoughts on what I liked, and I ultimately chose green and brown because of nature.
This was my cover page for the booklet and it's just to show you what it kinda consisted of, and to represent what I used to mainly decide my colors that I was to you on my project.
FINAL COLORS
These were other colors that I wanted to consider but I also made a color contrast booklet to see what colors looked good with what?
This is what I originally came up with and as you can see I made a bunch of modifications.
This is my final project that I love and it couldn't have turned out any better.
Now to show you some of my photo shop work screenshots:
I made the door from tracing the door frame and filling in the space, this was the most time consuming considering that I had to make every line that you see.
This tree logo is apart of my poster symbols collection. It's the second out of two. It was just something that I came up with on the spot.
I had to expand my shading of the sunlight to really get that proper gradient look.
I also used the pen tool a ton, because every time I expanded the gradient sunlight blocks, they expanded outside of the actual paper. so I used the pen tool to get rid of those too wide of shapes.
That's all! I hope you enjoyed taking a look at what I made, and I take great pride in it.
